The Coe College Department of Music was formally organized ca. 1897. Operated as a joint program with the Cedar Rapids Conservatory 1905-1908, the Music Department returned to the College in 1910, was renamed the Coe College Conservatory of Music in 1911 and operated under that name until 1923.
